ILC 2017 HIGHLIGHTS ISSUES CONCERNING LAW, JUSTICE AND INTEGRITY

UUM ONLINE: To further enhance the role of academicians, researchers and law practitioners in planning the future of the legal system to meet the needs of modern society, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) School of Law (SoL) organized the 9th UUM International Legal Conference (ILC) 2017 which began from 23 until 24 September at the EDC Hotels and Resorts.

Themed "Law, Justice and Integrity," the conference illustrated the importance of legal elements, justice and integrity as requirements for both law theorists and practitioners to innovate and adapt to the emergence of new, emerging laws on the borderless world to date.

The opening ceremony for ILC 2017 was officiated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak.

Vice-Chancellor said ILC provided a platform for intellectuals from various disciplines and law discipline to debate and seek solutions concerning legal issues that were not only relevant to the Malaysian society but also the international community.

"ILC continues following the success of the previous eight conferences, hence I hope ILC 2017 will be another successful conference and the exchange of ideas among fellow participants will generate even more ideas that will benefit the field of law," he said.

At the conference, a total of 117 papers were presented in five parallel sessions involving about 97 participants from six countries namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Nigeria, Iran and Iraq.

Meanwhile, the keynote address entitled "Integrity And Governance In Organization - Issues and Challenges: The Malaysian Experiences" was delivered by the President cum Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Institute of Integrity, Datuk Dr Anis Yusal Yusoff.
