UUM ONLINE:2 Aug. 2017 - UUM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Islamic Institute, or Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN), Palangka Raya, Indonesia, in an effort to further develop international collaboration.

At the MoU signing ceremony held at UUMKL yesterday morning, UUM was represented by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, while IAIN Palangka Raya was represented by Dr Abdul Qodir, who was standing in for the Rector of Academic Affairs and Institutional Development.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the signing of the MoU would enable UUM to share knowledge and experience with IAIN Palangka Raya in terms of human capital development.

“UUM is ever ready to offer its expertise to help IAIN attain continuous success. However, such an undertaking requires meticulous planning,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed his hope that the collaboration between UUM and IAIN Palangka Raya would expand its focus beyond law studies to include programmes such as the Islamic Business and Business Management programmes offered at UUM.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul Qodir said that, with the MoU in hand, IAIN Palangka Raya would be greatly enabled to emulate the tremendous triumphs of UUM.

According to Dr. Abdul Qodir, IAIN Palangka Raya had formerly been only a high school and that it had become an institute in 2014. He expressed his fervent expectation that IAIN would come into its own as a university in the near future.

Also present during the signing ceremony were the Dean of the School of Law, Associate Professor Dr. Zainal Amin Ayub, and senior officials of UUM and IAIN Palangka Raya.
